Welcome to our Mixed Media Art Journaling Class for Middle School!
In this class, we will explore the world of art through the lens of mixed media art journaling. You will learn about the basic elements of art such as line, color, shape, form, value, texture, and space, and how to incorporate them into your creative process.
We will guide you through each step of the process, as you learn how to express your ideas and emotions through mixed media art journaling. With each new lesson, you are encouraged to explore your own unique style and tap into the creative juice flowing within you.
Here are some of the topics we will cover in our class:
Line- Understand the different types of lines and how they can add movement and emotion to your artwork.
Color- Learn how to use and mix colors to evoke certain moods and create depth in your artwork.
Shape- Explore the world of shapes and how they can play a significant role in your design.
Form- Understand the concept of 3D form and how it can add dimension to your pieces.
Value- Master the art of shading and contrast to create depth and luminosity in your artwork.
Texture- Understand the importance of texture and how to incorporate it into your projects for a multidimensional feel.
Space- Learn how to create depth and perspective in your artwork using space.
Unity- Discover how to blend different elements of design to create a feeling of wholeness in your artwork.
Balance- Learn about different types of balance and harmony in your artwork that creates a sense of visual flow.
Proportion- Understand the importance of proper scaling and proportion in creating a balanced composition.

This class is for middle school students as they entered school this school year.
Supply fee is included in the cost.
Please arrive 5 – 10 minutes early so we can set up and start promptly on time.

Make sure the students are wearing comfortable clothes. I will provide aprons, but art is messy. Dress accordingly.
Bring a bottle of water. No snacks, please.
To drop off and pick up please come inside. The street in front of the studio can get quite busy and I wouldn’t feel safe letting children out of the building without supervision.
Students will be picked up on time to allow the studio to stay on schedule. – next class starts promptly after.
Parents may not stay in the classroom. Please, plan accordingly.
I reserve the right to expel a student from class without any reimbursement if there are behavioural issues. The student in question will be given one email warning.
Dropping out of class for any reasons will not be reimbursed.
